Clean the mushrooms with a damp paper towel to remove any dirt. Slice them into even pieces.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the garlic and cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and sauté for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they release their moisture and become golden brown.
- Sprinkle the oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes (if using) over the mushrooms. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to combine and the mushrooms to caramelize slightly.
- Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish. Garnish with fresh parsley and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese if desired.
