Crispy, tender chicken pieces coated in a sticky honey garlic glaze that’s sweet, savory, and perfectly balanced. Ready in under 30 minutes, these Honey Garlic Chicken Bites make an irresistible main dish or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch (for coating)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp water or chicken broth
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized cubes and season with salt and pepper. Toss with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces in a single layer and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 6–8 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add honey, soy sauce, vinegar, and water (or broth). Stir and bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 2 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Return the chicken to the skillet and toss to coat evenly in the sauce. Cook for another minute until the glaze becomes sticky and glossy.
  6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve immediately over rice, noodles, or with vegetables.

Notes

  • For crispier bites, cook the chicken in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey to taste.
  • Simmer the sauce longer for a thicker glaze or use a cornstarch slurry if needed.
  • Fresh garlic gives the best flavor, but bottled garlic can be used in a pinch.
  • Double the sauce if you like extra for drizzling over rice or noodles.
