Honey Garlic Chicken is a quick, one-pan dish featuring tender chicken coated in a glossy, sweet-savory glaze made from honey, garlic, and soy sauce. Ready in under 30 minutes, it’s a versatile and flavorful recipe perfect for busy weeknights or casual entertaining.

Ingredients

  1. 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  2. Salt and pepper, to taste
  3. 2 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil
  4. 34 cloves garlic, minced
  5. 1/3 cup honey
  6. 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  7. 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  8. 1 tsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water (optional, for thickening)
  9. Green onions or sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

Season chicken: Pat chicken dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.

  1. Sear chicken: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken 4–5 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through. Transfer to a plate.
  2. Make sauce: In the same skillet, sauté garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in honey, soy sauce, and vinegar. Simmer 1–2 minutes.
  3. Thicken (optional): Mix cornstarch with water and stir into the sauce. Simmer until slightly thickened.
  4. Coat chicken: Return chicken to skillet, turning to coat well in the glaze. Simmer 2–3 minutes until heated through.
  5. Serve: Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds. Serve hot with rice, noodles, or vegetables.

Notes

  1. Use chicken thighs for a juicier, more flavorful option.
  2. For a spicy twist, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  3. Coconut aminos can replace soy sauce for a soy-free version.
  4. Fresh garlic is recommended for best flavor, but pre-minced works in a pinch.
