Homemade pizza pockets are cheesy, flavorful hand-held snacks filled with pizza sauce, mozzarella, and your favorite toppings, all wrapped in golden baked dough. They’re perfect for quick meals, snacks, or meal prep.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup toppings (pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, olives, etc.)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or melted butter (for brushing)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning or dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • Flour for rolling dough

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface and cut into 8–10 squares or rectangles.
  3. Add a spoonful of pizza sauce to the center of each dough piece.
  4. Top with mozzarella cheese and your selected toppings.
  5. Fold the dough over the filling to create a pocket and seal edges with a fork.
  6. Place pockets on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Brush tops with olive oil or melted butter and sprinkle with Italian seasoning and garlic powder, if using.
  8. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Don’t overfill the pockets to prevent leakage during baking.
  • Seal edges well with a fork or pinch to keep the filling inside.
  • Great for meal prep — freeze extras and reheat as needed.
  • Customize fillings based on what you have available or prefer.
  • Use egg wash for a shinier crust if desired.
