Ingredients
2 cups milk of choice
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
2 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
1/8 tsp ground cloves (optional)
1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
Whipped cream (for topping)
Crushed gingersnap cookies or cinnamon (optional garnish)
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine milk, cocoa powder, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves over medium heat.
Whisk constantly until the mixture is smooth and hot, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the chocolate chips and continue whisking until melted and creamy.
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream and garnish if desired.
Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
Adjust spice levels to taste if you prefer more or less warmth.
Use dark chocolate chips for a richer drink or milk chocolate for a sweeter version.
Whisk constantly to prevent scorching the milk.
Top with festive garnishes like gingerbread cookie crumbles for added flair.
