Ingredients

1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 tablespoon butter

1 teaspoon minced garlic

1/4 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)

For the Sauce:

1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 1/2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce or mirin

Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, teriyaki sauce (or mirin), and black pepper. Set aside.

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and melt the butter. Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  • Add shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the garlic butter.

  • Pour in the prepared sauce and stir to coat the shrimp evenly.

  • Cook for about 5 minutes, or until shrimp are pink and opaque. The sauce will reduce slightly.

  • (Optional) Drizzle with sesame oil before serving for added flavor.

  • Serve hot with rice, veggies, or your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Don’t overcook the shrimp—they cook quickly and can become rubbery.

  • Add red pepper flakes or sriracha for a spicy kick.

  • For extra flavor, double the garlic or butter.

  • Pairs well with hibachi fried rice, grilled veggies, or a fresh salad.

  • To thicken the sauce, let it simmer longer or add a cornstarch slurry.
