Healthy Whole Wheat Pancakes are soft, fluffy, and made with wholesome whole wheat flour for added fiber and nutrition. These easy pancakes make a balanced and satisfying breakfast while still delivering classic pancake flavor and texture.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk or almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter
  • Optional toppings: fresh berries, sliced bananas, maple syrup, yogurt, chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon if using.
  2. In another bowl, mix the egg, milk, honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and olive oil or melted butter.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease if needed.
  5. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake.
  6. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and edges begin to set.
  7. Flip and cook the other side until golden brown.
  8. Transfer pancakes to a plate and repeat with remaining batter.
  9. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Let the batter rest for about 5 minutes before cooking for fluffier pancakes.
  • Avoid overmixing to keep the pancakes light and tender.
  • If the batter becomes too thick, add a small splash of milk to loosen it.
