Greek marinated chicken with tzatziki sauce is a vibrant Mediterranean-inspired dish featuring lemon-herb marinated chicken and a cool, creamy yogurt-cucumber sauce. Perfect for wraps, bowls, or light dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs chicken breasts or thighs
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (for marinade)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Tzatziki:
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber, grated and drained
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill (or 1 tsp dried dill)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest, Greek yogurt, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add the chicken and coat thoroughly. Marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook chicken for 5–6 minutes per side, or until cooked through and golden. Let rest before slicing.
  5. For the tzatziki, grate cucumber and squeeze out excess moisture.
  6. Mix grated cucumber with Greek yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, dill, salt, and pepper. Chill until ready to use.
  7. Serve chicken with tzatziki on the side or drizzled on top.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs for extra juiciness and flavor.
  • Squeeze the cucumber well to prevent watery tzatziki.
  • Marinate the chicken overnight for deeper flavor.
  • Grill or bake the chicken depending on your preference.
  • Great served with pita, rice, salad, or roasted vegetables.
