Garlic Butter Chicken is a quick and flavorful one-skillet dish made with juicy chicken breasts or thighs cooked in a rich, buttery garlic sauce. It’s a comforting meal that’s easy to prepare and perfect for any night of the week.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth or water (optional)
  • Fresh parsley or thyme, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season chicken on both sides with salt, pepper, and paprika if using.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add chicken and cook for 5–6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. Reduce heat to medium. Add butter to the same skillet and let it melt.
  5. Stir in minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Add a splash of chicken broth or water if desired to create more sauce.
  7. Return chicken to the skillet and spoon garlic butter over the top. Simmer for 2–3 more minutes to coat and reheat.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley or thyme and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken is cooked to 165°F (74°C).
  • Double the butter and garlic for more sauce.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Stir in a splash of cream for a creamy garlic butter sauce variation.
  • Pairs well with rice, pasta, mashed potatoes, or roasted vegetables.
