Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of French or Italian bread
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the loaf of bread in half horizontally.
  3. In a medium-sized bowl, mix together softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using).
  4. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
  5. Place the bread halves on a baking sheet, cut side up.
