Fresh Blueberry Salsa is a vibrant, refreshing, and flavorful twist on traditional salsa, combining the sweetness of fresh blueberries with lime, cilantro, and a touch of heat. This unique salsa is perfect for summer gatherings or as a topping for grilled chicken, fish tacos, or paired with chips for a refreshing snack.

Ingredients

  1. 1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries (washed and patted dry)
  2. 1/4 cup red onion, finely diced
  3. 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  4. 1 tablespoon lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  5. 1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)
  6. 1 small jalapeño pepper, finely diced (seeds removed for less heat)
  7. Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: Wash and pat dry the blueberries. Dice the red onion and jalapeño (remove seeds for less heat), and chop the cilantro.

  1. Combine the Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the blueberries, red onion, cilantro, lime juice, and jalapeño. Add honey or agave syrup if you want extra sweetness. Stir gently to combine all ingredients.
  2. Season: Taste the salsa and add salt and pepper to your liking. For more heat, add additional jalapeño or chili flakes.
  3. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the salsa for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve with tortilla chips, grilled meats, fish tacos, or as a topping for salads and wraps.

Notes

  • Feel free to experiment with other fruits like strawberries or peaches to complement the blueberries.
  • If you prefer a sweeter salsa, add more honey or agave syrup, or even finely diced apples for extra crunch.
