Easy Meat Lasagna is a comforting, classic dish made with layers of pasta, rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and gooey melted cheese. This simplified version is perfect for weeknight dinners or feeding a crowd.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or half ground beef, half Italian sausage)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups marinara or pasta sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 9 lasagna noodles (regular or oven-ready)
  • 1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus more for topping)
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add onion and garlic; sauté for 2–3 minutes. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–10 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, salt, and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese.
  5. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Layer with noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and more sauce. Repeat until ingredients are used, ending with sauce and a generous topping of mozzarella and Parmesan.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake uncovered for 15–20 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly.
  7. Let rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use oven-ready noodles to skip boiling.
  • Add spinach, mushrooms, or zucchini for extra veggies.
  • Assemble ahead and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking.
  • Letting the lasagna rest prevents it from falling apart when slicing.
