Easy Honey Ginger Sesame Chicken is a quick and flavorful dish featuring tender chicken coated in a glossy sweet-and-savory sauce made with fresh ginger, garlic, honey, and soy sauce, finished with sesame seeds and green onions.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken pieces with salt and black pepper, then toss with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add chicken in a single layer and cook for 5–7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside if needed.
  4. Reduce heat to medium and add garlic and grated ginger to the same skillet. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Stir in honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Return chicken to the skillet and toss to coat. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until the sauce is glossy and clings to the chicken.
  7. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or sriracha to the sauce.
  • Chicken thighs can be substituted for juicier results.
  • Add vegetables like broccoli, snap peas, or bell peppers for a complete one-pan meal.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Freeze for up to 2 months and thaw overnight before reheating.
  • Ensure chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
