Easy BBQ Chicken Kebabs are juicy, flavorful skewers of chicken grilled or broiled to perfection with a sweet and smoky barbecue glaze. Perfect for weeknight dinners, backyard cookouts, or meal prep.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into -inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped (optional)
  • 1 red onion, chopped (optional)
  • Wooden or metal skewers

Instructions

  1. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  2. Cut chicken into 1½-inch cubes.
  3. In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add chicken and toss to coat.
  4. Thread chicken and optional vegetables onto skewers.
  5. Preheat grill to medium-high heat or oven broiler to high.
  6. Grill or broil kebabs for 8–10 minutes, turning halfway, until chicken is nearly cooked through.
  7. Brush BBQ sauce generously over the chicken and grill for an additional 2–3 minutes on each side, until caramelized and fully cooked (internal temp of 165°F / 74°C).
  8. Remove from heat, let rest for a few minutes, and serve.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs for juicier, more forgiving results.
  • Don’t skip soaking wooden skewers if grilling to avoid burning.
  • For added flavor, marinate chicken in BBQ sauce up to 24 hours ahead of time.
  • Cook time may vary slightly depending on grill or broiler heat level.
