Deconstructed Wonton Soup is a comforting, simplified version of traditional wonton soup where seasoned meat, vegetables, and aromatic broth are cooked together without wrapping dumplings. It delivers the classic flavors of wonton soup in a quick and easy one-pot meal.

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  • 1 cup carrots, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  4. Add the remaining garlic and ginger and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  6. Add the sliced carrots, mushrooms, and chopped cabbage or bok choy.
  7. Stir in the remaining soy sauce and season with salt and black pepper.

  10. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  11. Ladle the soup into bowls and serve warm.

Notes

  • Cooked noodles or rice can be added for a more filling meal.
  • Shrimp can be used instead of ground meat for a seafood variation.
  • To make it vegetarian, use tofu and vegetable broth.
  • Extra ginger or garlic can be added for a stronger broth flavor.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
