Using basic ingredients like flour, yeast, and olive oil, this recipe yields a warm loaf with a slightly crisp crust. Perfect for busy days, this Crockpot bread is simple to prepare and ideal for anyone craving freshly baked bread with minimal effort.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or vegetable oil)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (optional, for extra softness)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
  • Add the warm water, olive oil, and milk (if using) to the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes, either by hand or using a stand mixer, until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough and shape it into a round loaf.
  • Grease the Crockpot (slow cooker) or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  • Place the dough in the Crockpot, cover, and set it on the “low” heat setting. Cook for 2-2.5 hours, until golden and sounds hollow when tapped.
  • Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing. Enjoy!

Notes

  • This recipe yields a soft, fluffy loaf with a golden crust.
  • For variations, you can add dried herbs, cheese, cinnamon, or garlic to the dough before the first rise.
  • To get a crispier crust, place the finished loaf under the broiler for 1-2 minutes.
