Crispy baked carrot fries are a healthy alternative to traditional fries, featuring naturally sweet carrots roasted with simple seasonings for a lightly crisp exterior and tender center.

Ingredients

  • 4 large carrots, peeled and cut into thin fry-shaped sticks
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel the carrots and cut them into thin, even fry-shaped sticks.
  3. Place the carrot sticks in a large bowl and drizzle with olive oil, tossing to coat evenly.
  4. Sprinkle the cornstarch over the carrots and toss again to coat.
  5. Add the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika, mixing until evenly seasoned.
  6. Arrange the carrots in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet without overcrowding.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, turning halfway through cooking, until the edges are lightly browned and crisp.
  8. Remove from the oven and garnish with parmesan cheese, parsley, or cayenne pepper if desired.
  9. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Cut the carrots into evenly sized sticks to ensure consistent cooking.
  • Do not overcrowd the baking sheet or the fries may steam instead of crisp.
  • Smoked paprika can be used instead of regular paprika for a smoky flavor.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in a 375°F (190°C) oven for 8–10 minutes to restore crispness.
  • An air fryer can also reheat them in 3–4 minutes.
