Ingredients

  • 2 large apples (such as Fuji or Honeycrisp)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Slice the apples into wedges, about 1/2-inch thick, discarding the core and seeds.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, cinnamon, and salt.
  • In another bowl, combine the sugar and vanilla extract.
  • Lightly coat the apple wedges with the flour mixture, ensuring each piece is evenly coated.
  • Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking, then arrange the apple slices in a single layer in the basket.
  • Air fry the apples for about 8-10 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Once done, remove the fries from the air fryer and toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture while they are still warm.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • To make these apple fries gluten-free, substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
  • Experiment with different apple varieties like Granny Smith, Gala, or Pink Lady to vary the flavor.
  • You can store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheat them in the air fryer for a few minutes to restore crispiness.
