Ingredients

For the Shrimp:

  • 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

For the Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
  • ½ cup chicken broth (or white wine)
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Garnish:

  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  • Season the Shrimp: In a bowl, toss shrimp with paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  • Sear the Shrimp: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  • Make the Sauce: Reduce heat to medium and melt butter in the same skillet. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add Liquid & Cheese: Stir in chicken broth, simmer for 2-3 minutes, then pour in heavy cream. Add Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes.
  • Combine & Serve: Return shrimp to the skillet, coat with the creamy sauce, and let simmer for another 2 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add more red pepper flakes or a splash of hot sauce.
  • Make it dairy-free by using coconut milk and dairy-free cheese.
  • Swap shrimp for scallops, lobster, or a seafood mix for variety.
  • Add vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or bell peppers for extra flavor.
  • For a thicker sauce, let it simmer longer or add more Parmesan.
