Creamy Chicken in Parmesan Sauce combines juicy chicken breasts with a rich, velvety Parmesan sauce made with cream, garlic, and Parmesan cheese. This indulgent dish is quick and easy to prepare, making it perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

  1. For the chicken:
    • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
  2. For the Parmesan sauce:
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • ¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
    • ½ teaspoon dried thyme or Italian seasoning
    • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the chicken: Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken for 6-7 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C). Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

  1. Make the Parmesan sauce: In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add the garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add heavy cream, scraping up any browned bits from the skillet. Stir in Parmesan, Dijon mustard (if using), thyme, and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for 3-4 minutes until it thickens and becomes smooth.
  2. Combine chicken and sauce: Return the chicken to the skillet, spooning the creamy sauce over it. Simmer for 2-3 minutes to heat through and let the flavors meld.
  3. Serve: Garnish with parsley and serve with pasta, rice, or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.

Notes

  • To thicken the sauce, let it simmer for longer or add more Parmesan cheese.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute heavy cream with coconut cream and Parmesan with dairy-free alternatives.
  • This dish is naturally gluten-free but check the Dijon mustard for any gluten content.
