Cream Cheese Wontons are crispy, golden bites filled with a creamy, savory mixture of cream cheese and green onions. Perfect as an appetizer or snack, they’re easy to make and can be fried, baked, or air-fried for a crunchy restaurant-style treat at home.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 20 wonton wrappers
  • Water (for sealing edges)
  • Oil for frying or cooking spray for baking/air frying
  • Dipping sauce (e.g., sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, or duck sauce)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, green onions, garlic powder, and salt until smooth.
  2. Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Add 1 tsp of the cream cheese mixture to the center.
  3. Moisten the edges with water, then fold into a triangle or bring corners together to seal tightly.
  4. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  5. To fry: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry in batches for 2–3 minutes or until golden. Drain on paper towels.
  6. To air fry: Spray with oil and air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway.
  7. To bake: Place on parchment-lined sheet, spray with oil, and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes until golden.
  8. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Seal edges tightly to prevent leaking during cooking.
  • Do not overfill the wrappers—use just 1 teaspoon of filling per wonton.
  • For extra flavor, add chopped herbs, bacon, or spicy elements to the filling.
  • Freeze uncooked wontons in a single layer, then store in a freezer bag. Cook from frozen as needed.
  • Use fresh cream cheese for best texture and flavor.
