Cream Cheese Stuffed French Toast is a rich and indulgent breakfast treat made by sandwiching sweetened cream cheese between thick slices of bread, dipping in cinnamon custard, and pan-frying to golden perfection. It’s ideal for brunch or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices thick bread (brioche or challah recommended)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar (for filling)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk or half-and-half
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp butter (for frying)
  • Maple syrup, berries, or powdered sugar for serving

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth.
  2. Spread the cream cheese mixture on one slice of bread and top with another to make a sandwich.
  3. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  4. Dip each sandwich in the egg mixture, coating both sides well.
  5. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  6. Cook sandwiches for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden and heated through.
  7. Slice and serve warm with maple syrup, berries, or powdered sugar.

Notes

  • Use thick, soft bread like brioche or challah for best results.
  • Don’t overfill the cream cheese to prevent leaking.
  • Customize with fruit, chocolate, or citrus zest in the filling.
  • Cook over medium heat to ensure the filling warms without burning the outside.
  • Great for holidays, birthdays, or cozy weekend brunches.
