Cream Cheese Stuffed French Toast is a decadent, golden-brown breakfast sandwich filled with sweetened cream cheese and dipped in a cinnamon-vanilla custard before being pan-fried to crispy perfection. It’s rich, comforting, and perfect for brunch or special mornings.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices thick-sliced bread (brioche, challah, or Texas toast)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk or half-and-half
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp butter (for frying)
  • Optional toppings: fresh berries, maple syrup, powdered sugar, fruit compote

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  2. Spread the mixture on one slice of bread and top with another to form a sandwich.
  3. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  4. Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides thoroughly.
  5. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  6. Cook each sandwich for 3–4 minutes per side until golden and heated through.
  7. Slice, top with your favorite toppings like syrup or berries, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use thick, soft bread to prevent sogginess and hold the filling.
  • Don’t overfill to avoid leaks—press edges together before dipping.
  • Customize the filling with fruit, chocolate, or citrus zest.
  • Make ahead by assembling sandwiches the night before and cooking in the morning.
  • For baked version, cook at 375°F for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
