Cream Cheese Chicken is a creamy and savory one-pan dish featuring tender chicken breasts smothered in a rich cream cheese sauce. It’s quick, family-friendly, and perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or parmesan
  • Fresh parsley or chives, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Sear the chicken breasts in the skillet for 5–6 minutes on each side, until golden and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté the chopped onion and garlic until fragrant and translucent.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  6. Reduce the heat and stir in the cream cheese until melted and smooth.
  7. Return the chicken to the pan, spooning the sauce over the top. Simmer for 5 more minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  8. Optionally, sprinkle with mozzarella or parmesan and cover until melted.
  9. Garnish with chopped parsley or chives and serve hot.

Notes

  • Add red pepper flakes for a spicy version.
  • Swap Italian seasoning with rosemary or thyme for variation.
  • Mix in spinach or mushrooms for added veggies.
  • Use chicken thighs for a more flavorful variation.
  • Ensure cream cheese is softened to avoid curdling.
