Crab Imperial is a luxurious, creamy seafood dish made with tender lump crab meat, mayonnaise, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and spices, baked to golden perfection. Perfect for a special occasion, holiday meal, or dinner party, this easy-to-make dish will impress with its sophisticated flavors and indulgent texture.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lump crab meat (picked over for shells)
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 large egg (lightly beaten)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (halal version)
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • ½ tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • ¼ tsp paprika (plus extra for garnish)
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ cup finely diced red bell pepper
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley (plus extra for garnish)
  • ¼ cup plain breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter (melted, optional for topping)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish or individual ramekins.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, egg, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  • Gently fold in the lump crab meat, being careful not to break it up. Add the diced red bell pepper and parsley, mixing lightly.
  • Transfer the crab mixture into the prepared baking dish or ramekins. For a crispy topping, mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle on top.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, until bubbly and the top is golden.
  • Garnish with additional paprika and parsley. Serve warm with crackers, bread, or a fresh salad.

Notes

  • Spicy Crab Imperial: Add cayenne pepper or hot sauce for extra heat.
  • Low-Carb Option: Skip the breadcrumbs and use grated Parmesan for a keto-friendly version.
  • Cheesy Twist: Top with shredded cheese before baking for a cheesy finish.
