Cinnamon French Toast Sticks are a crispy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside breakfast treat, coated in cinnamon sugar and perfect for dipping in syrup or pairing with fruit. A fun, kid-friendly twist on the classic French toast.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices thick bread (Texas toast or brioche)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (plus extra for sugar mixture)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter (for frying)
  • Maple syrup or fruit, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix granulated sugar with 1/2 tsp cinnamon and set aside.
  3. Cut each slice of bread into 3 or 4 thick sticks.
  4. Dip each stick into the egg mixture, letting the excess drip off.
  5. Heat butter in a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  6. Cook sticks in batches until golden brown on all sides, about 2–3 minutes per side.
  7. While still warm, roll or sprinkle the sticks with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  8. Serve immediately with maple syrup or fresh fruit for dipping.

Notes

  • Use thick, sturdy bread to prevent sogginess.
  • Freeze leftovers in a single layer before bagging.
  • Reheat in oven, toaster oven, or air fryer for best texture.
  • Make it vegan by using mashed banana, plant-based milk, and vegan butter.
  • Try baking instead of frying for a lighter version.
