Chicken Parmesan Burgers are a delicious twist on classic chicken parm, featuring juicy seasoned chicken patties topped with marinara sauce and melted cheese, all served on toasted buns. They’re a fun, flavorful mashup of two favorites in one handheld sandwich.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or cooking oil
  • 4 burger buns
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce, warmed
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese or 1 cup shredded
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, Italian seasoning, minced garlic, chopped onion (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 evenly sized patties.
  3. Heat a skillet or grill over medium heat and add oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Cook patties for 5–6 minutes per side or until golden and cooked through (165°F/74°C internal temperature).
  5. In the last few minutes of cooking, spoon marinara sauce over each patty and top with mozzarella. Cover pan or close grill to melt cheese.
  6. Toast burger buns lightly on the grill or in a skillet.
  7. Assemble each burger by placing the patty on the bun and topping with more marinara and fresh herbs, if using.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the chicken mixture to keep patties tender.
  • Make patties ahead of time and refrigerate until ready to cook.
  • Use gluten-free breadcrumbs and buns for a gluten-free version.
  • Optional: Add extra marinara to the bottom bun for more sauciness.
