Perfectly cooked in the air fryer, these calzones are quick, easy, and healthier than deep-frying. With a savory, cheesy filling and crispy exterior, they’re ideal for a fun family meal or a quick dinner. Plus, they’re customizable with different fillings, cheeses, and seasonings, making them a versatile comfort food option.

Ingredients

For the Dough:

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp sugar

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast

¾ cup warm water

1 tbsp olive oil

For the Filling:

1 cup cooked chicken, shredded

½ cup Alfredo sauce

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

¼ tsp garlic powder

¼ tsp Italian seasoning

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast. Add warm water and olive oil, stirring until it forms a dough. Knead for 5 minutes, then cover and let rest for 30 minutes.

  • Make the Filling: In a medium bowl, combine shredded chicken, Alfredo sauce, mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Stir to combine.

  • Assemble the Calzones: Roll the dough into 6-inch circles. Add the filling to one half of the dough, leaving space at the edges. Fold over, press, and crimp edges with a fork.

  • Cook in the Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F. Lightly grease the basket. Place calzones inside, ensuring they don’t touch, and cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown.

  • Serve: Let the calzones cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Vegetarian Option: Replace the chicken with sautéed vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or bell peppers.

  • Store-Bought Dough: Substitute homemade dough with store-bought pizza dough for a quicker option.

  • Freezing: Freeze uncooked calzones on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag. Air-fry from frozen for 12-15 minutes
