Cheesy Spaghetti Pie is a hearty baked pasta casserole with a crispy spaghetti crust, creamy cheese center, and savory meat sauce topping. It’s a comforting, sliceable twist on spaghetti night that’s perfect for families, meal prep, or potlucks.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz spaghetti
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta or cottage cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups marinara or pasta sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter (for greasing the dish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish or 9×9-inch baking dish with olive oil or butter.
  2. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and let cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, mix cooked spaghetti with beaten eggs and Parmesan cheese.
  4. Press spaghetti mixture into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared dish to form a crust.
  5. In a skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until browned. Add garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  6. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–10 minutes.
  7. Spread ricotta or cottage cheese evenly over the spaghetti crust.
  8. Top with the meat sauce mixture and sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
  9. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Let cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use leftover spaghetti for quicker prep.
  • Substitute ricotta with cream cheese for a richer center.
  • Add vegetables like spinach or mushrooms to the meat sauce for extra flavor and nutrition.
  • Freezes well either before or after baking.
