Cheesy Pierogi Casserole

A rich and comforting baked casserole featuring layers of potato and cheese pierogies, creamy sauce, melted cheddar, and crispy bacon, finished with fresh green onions for a hearty family favorite.

Ingredients

  1. 2 lbs frozen potato and cheese pierogies
  2. 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  3. 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  4. 1 cup sour cream
  5. 1/2 cup milk
  6. 3 green onions, sliced
  7. 3 tbsp butter
  8. Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  1. Arrange half of the pierogies in the prepared dish.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in cream cheese, sour cream, and milk until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Pour half of the sauce over the pierogies, then sprinkle with half of the cheddar cheese .
  4. Repeat the layers with the remaining pierogies, sauce, cheese, and bacon.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

  1. Add caramelized onions for extra sweetness and depth.
  2. Swap cheddar for mozzarella, Colby Jack, or a cheese blend.
  3. Mix in diced ham or sausage for variety.
  4. Add steamed broccoli or spinach for a veggie boost.
  5. Cover with foil while baking to prevent drying out.
