Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 12 oz penne, rotini, or shell pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3/4 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup milk or heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  4. Stir in the chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  5. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Mix in the tomato paste, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  7. Stir in the BBQ sauce, honey, and beef broth. Simmer for 5 minutes to combine flavors.
  8. Reduce heat to low and stir in the milk or heavy cream.
  9. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat evenly.
  10. Sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the pasta and stir until melted and creamy.
  11. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
