Ingredients
4 Russet potatoes or 1 bag frozen French fries
Vegetable oil (for frying or baking)
Salt, to taste
4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
4 tbsp butter
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese (or a blend)
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese (optional, for topping)
Optional toppings: chopped parsley, green onions, crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions
Prepare the fries: Wash, peel (optional), and cut potatoes into fries. Soak in cold water for 30 minutes, then drain and dry thoroughly. Fry twice (300°F for 4–5 mins, then 375°F for 2–3 mins) or bake at 425°F for 25–30 mins. If using frozen fries, bake or air fry as directed.
Make the garlic butter: Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant but not browned. Remove from heat.
Toss the fries: Place hot fries in a bowl and toss gently with the garlic butter until evenly coated.
Add cheese: Spread garlic-coated fries on a baking sheet or oven-safe dish. Top evenly with shredded cheese.
Broil: Broil for 2–3 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Finish and serve: Sprinkle with Parmesan, parsley, red pepper flakes, or any optional toppings. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use fresh garlic for best flavor—avoid burning it during sautéing.
Customize the cheese blend to your preference—mozzarella for melt, cheddar for flavor, Parmesan for richness.
Serve with dips like ranch, garlic aioli, or marinara.
To keep fries crispy, serve immediately after broiling.
Air fryer works great for prepping fries before topping.
