Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of French bread (or sourdough, ciabatta)
  • ½ cup salted butter, softened
  • 34 cloves garlic, minced (or more if you love garlic)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Prepare the Bread: Slice the French bread in half lengthwise and place the cut sides up on a baking sheet.
  • Make the Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt.
  • Spread the Mixture: Generously spread the garlic butter mixture on both halves of the bread.
  • Add the Cheese: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan evenly over the buttered bread.
  • Bake: Place the bread in the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. For an extra crispy top, broil for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  • Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Pesto Garlic Bread: Spread pesto on the bread before adding the cheese for extra flavor.
  • Spicy Garlic Bread: Add red pepper flakes or finely chopped jalapeños for a spicy twist.
  • Stuffed Garlic Bread: Stuff the bread with cooked meats, spinach, or extra cheese for a heartier version.
