A rich and comforting pasta dish featuring tender beef, cheese-filled tortellini, and a creamy tomato-cheese sauce. Quick to make yet indulgent, it’s the perfect weeknight dinner for the whole family.

Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef (or diced beef)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 23 cloves garlic, minced
  • 400 g canned crushed tomatoes (or tomato sauce)
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste (optional)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 500 g cheese-filled tortellini (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or milk
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped spinach, mushrooms, or bell pepper
  • Optional: fresh parsley or basil, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until softened, then stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  2. Add ground or diced beef and cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian herbs. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Add beef broth if sauce is too thick. Simmer gently for 5–8 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, cook tortellini according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  5. Stir heavy cream or milk into the sauce, then add cooked tortellini and toss gently to coat.
  6. Stir in shredded cheese until melted and sauce becomes creamy. Add Parmesan if using.
  7. Optional: transfer to an oven-safe dish, top with extra cheese, and broil for 1–2 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley or basil and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use cheese-filled tortellini for extra richness.
  • Adjust sauce consistency with broth or milk as needed.
  • For extra depth, finish under a broiler for a lightly browned top.
  • Vegetables like spinach or mushrooms can be added for nutrition and color.
  • Reheat gently with a splash of milk to restore creaminess.
