Butter Baked Chicken is a simple, comforting dish featuring seasoned, lightly breaded chicken baked in melted butter until golden and juicy. Perfect for weeknight dinners or cozy meals with the family.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or breadcrumbs)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup milk or heavy cream (optional, for sauce)
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth (optional, for added flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dredge each chicken piece in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
  4. Pour melted butter into the baking dish. Add the coated chicken, turning to coat both sides in butter.
  5. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, flipping halfway through for even browning.
  6. For a creamier dish, add milk or chicken broth during the last 10 minutes of baking.
  7. Bake until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F and is golden brown.
  8. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use bone-in chicken for juicier results; adjust cook time accordingly.
  • Panko or Parmesan can be added to the flour for a crunchier crust.
  • Do not cover the dish while baking to ensure a crispy texture.
  • Add vegetables like carrots or potatoes to bake alongside the chicken in the butter sauce.
