Broccoli stir fry with chicken is a quick, healthy, and flavorful dish made with tender chicken, crisp broccoli, and a savory garlic sauce. It’s ready in under 30 minutes and perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  1. 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, sliced thin
  2. 4 cups fresh broccoli florets
  3. 3 cloves garlic, minced
  4. 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  5. 3 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  6. 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
  7. 1/2 cup chicken broth
  8. 2 tsp cornstarch
  9. 1 tsp sesame oil
  10. 2 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
  11. 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  12. 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Toss sliced chicken with 1 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tsp cornstarch. Set aside.

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add chicken and stir-fry until golden and cooked through, about 5–6 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, add a bit more oil if needed. Sauté garlic and ginger for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add broccoli and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), chicken broth, cornstarch, and sesame oil.
  5. Pour sauce into the pan and stir until thickened, about 1–2 minutes.
  6. Return chicken to the pan and toss everything together until coated and heated through.
  7. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs for a juicier texture and richer flavor.
  • Add other vegetables like carrots, mushrooms, or bell peppers for variety.
  • To make it spicy, add red pepper flakes or a drizzle of sriracha.
  • Great served over steamed rice, noodles, or cauliflower rice.
