Ingredients
1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
3 cups fresh broccoli florets
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce or hoisin sauce
1/4 cup chicken broth or water
1 tsp cornstarch
2 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil
Optional: 1 tsp grated ginger, 1/2 tsp sesame oil, 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes, sliced green onions for garnish
Instructions
Season chicken pieces with a little salt and pepper.
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5–7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
Add remaining oil to the skillet. Sauté garlic (and ginger, if using) for 30 seconds.
Add broccoli and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes. Add a splash of broth or water, cover, and steam for another 2–3 minutes until just tender.
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, chicken broth, cornstarch, and sesame oil (if using).
Return chicken to the skillet and pour the sauce over the chicken and broccoli. Stir well to coat evenly.
Cook for 2–3 more minutes, until the sauce thickens.
Serve hot over rice or noodles, garnished with green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
Use low-sodium soy sauce and broth for a healthier option.
Substitute chicken with tofu, shrimp, or beef if desired.
Frozen broccoli can be used—just thaw and pat dry first.
Double the sauce if serving over rice or noodles and prefer more coating.
