Breakfast sandwiches are a convenient and delicious way to enjoy a complete morning meal, combining eggs, cheese, and protein between toasted bread, bagels, or biscuits. They’re portable, customizable, and perfect for any day of the week.

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 4 English muffins, bagels, croissants, biscuits, or bread slices
  • 4 slices cheese (cheddar, Swiss, American, etc.)
  • 4 slices cooked bacon, sausage patties, or ham
  • 1 tablespoon butter or oil (for cooking eggs)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional add-ins: avocado, spinach, tomato slices, hot sauce, aioli, pesto

Instructions

  1. Prepare the protein: Cook bacon, sausage patties, or ham until done. Set aside and keep warm.
  2. Cook the eggs: Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry or scramble eggs to your liking. For folded eggs, pour beaten eggs into the skillet and fold into a square.
  3. Toast the bread: Toast English muffins, bagels, or other bread options until golden brown.
  4. Assemble: Layer egg, cheese, and protein onto the bottom half of each toasted bread. Add any desired toppings or sauces. Top with the remaining bread.
  5. Melt cheese (optional): Wrap sandwiches in foil and warm in a 300°F (150°C) oven for 5 minutes to melt cheese.
  6. Serve immediately or wrap to go.

Notes

  • Let cooked ingredients cool slightly before assembling to prevent sogginess.
  • Use folded eggs for a fast food–style sandwich.
  • Sandwiches can be prepped ahead and stored for grab-and-go meals.
  • Experiment with different cheeses, breads, and sauces.
  • Vegetarian options work well with sautéed vegetables or plant-based meat.
