Breakfast Pigs in a Blanket are a fun, portable, and satisfying morning meal featuring juicy breakfast sausages wrapped in fluffy crescent dough or pancakes. Perfect for kids, meal prep, or brunch, they’re a sweet and savory breakfast favorite ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 package (8 ounces) breakfast sausage links (fully cooked or raw)
  • 1 package refrigerated crescent roll dough or 2 cups prepared pancake batter
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (optional, for brushing or dipping)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing pan or skillet)
  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar, extra maple syrup for dipping

Instructions

  1. If using crescent rolls:
  2. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. If using raw sausages, cook them in a skillet over medium heat for 4–5 minutes until browned but not fully cooked through. Let cool slightly.
  4. Unroll crescent dough and separate into triangles.
  5. Place one sausage link at the wide end of each triangle and roll up tightly.
  6. Place seam-side down on the baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Brush with maple syrup if desired and serve warm.
  8. If using pancake batter:
  9. Preheat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter.
  10. Pour about 2 tablespoons of pancake batter onto the skillet.
  11. Place a cooked sausage link in the center and roll or flip to coat with batter.
  12. Cook until golden on all sides, about 2–3 minutes per side. Serve with warm maple syrup for dipping.

Notes

  • Use fully cooked sausages to save time and simplify prep.
  • Try adding cheese for extra flavor.
  • To make mini versions, cut the sausages and dough in half.
  • They freeze well and reheat perfectly in the oven or air fryer.
  • Great for breakfast, snacks, or brunch gatherings.
