Banana Split Kabobs are a fun and creative twist on the classic banana split, combining bananas, whipped cream, chocolate, nuts, and cherries onto skewers for an easy-to-serve, handheld dessert.

Ingredients

  1. 3 ripe bananas, peeled and cut into bite-sized chunks
1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
1/2 cup crushed nuts (such as walnuts, almonds, or pecans)
    1/2 cup maraschino cherries, drained
1 cup whipped cream (or dairy-free whipped cream)
1/4 cup chocolate or caramel syrup (optional)
Wooden skewers (or toothpicks for mini versions)

Instructions

Peel the bananas and cut them into 1- to 1.5-inch chunks.

  1. Crush the nuts into smaller pieces (if using whole nuts).
  2. Drain the maraschino cherries.
  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Alternatively, melt the chocolate over a double boiler.
  4. Thread a banana chunk onto a skewer, followed by a dollop of whipped cream, then add another banana chunk. Continue alternating between banana pieces, whipped cream, cherries, and nuts until the skewer is filled.
  5. Once the kabobs are assembled, drizzle them with melted chocolate or caramel syrup for extra sweetness.
  6. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

  1. Feel free to add other fruits like strawberries, pineapple, or blueberries to the kabobs for added flavor.
  2. For a vegan version, use dairy-free whipped cream and dark chocolate.
  3. Experiment with different nuts like pistachios, hazelnuts, or even shredded coconut.
  4. Freeze the banana chunks before assembling for a cool, refreshing treat.
