Baked Tilapia is a light and flavorful dish featuring tender white fish seasoned with lemon, garlic, and herbs, then baked to flaky perfection. This quick and wholesome recipe is perfect for easy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 4 tilapia fillets (about pounds total)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley or Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Pat the tilapia fillets dry with paper towels and place them in a single layer in the prepared dish.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together olive oil or melted butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, and lemon zest.
  4. Brush the mixture evenly over the fillets.
  5. Sprinkle paprika, dried parsley or Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper evenly over the fish.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F.
  7. Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh chopped parsley.
  8. Serve immediately with additional lemon wedges if desired.

Notes

  • Thaw frozen tilapia completely and pat dry before baking to prevent excess moisture.
  • Use olive oil instead of butter for a dairy-free option.
  • Add grated Parmesan or breadcrumbs for extra texture.
  • Quick-cooking vegetables like asparagus or zucchini can be baked alongside the fish.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Freezing is not recommended.
