Baked sweet potato fries are a healthier twist on traditional fries, offering crispy edges and tender centers. Roasted with simple seasonings, they’re naturally sweet, packed with nutrients, and perfect for serving as a side or snack.

Ingredients

2 medium sweet potatoes
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary (optional, for added flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Peel the sweet potatoes (optional) and cut them into evenly sized fries, about 1/4 to 1/2-inch thick.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the sweet potato fries with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Make sure the fries are evenly coated.
  4. Spread the fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Avoid overcrowding to ensure they bake evenly.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping the fries halfway through, until they are golden and crispy on the edges.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. For extra crispiness, place them under the broiler for 2-3 minutes at the end of baking.
  7. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!

Notes

  • Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili powder for a spicy kick, or drizzle with honey for a sweet contrast.
  • Use fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme for added flavor.
  • Soak the cut sweet potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes before baking for extra crispiness.
  • Sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese after baking for a cheesy touch.
