A hearty baked casserole layered with pasta, savory meat, vegetables, creamy sauce, and melted cheese, baked until golden and bubbly for the ultimate comforting family meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked pasta (penne or rotini)
  • 1 pound cooked ground beef or shredded chicken
  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, or broccoli)
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella), divided
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Lightly grease a white rectangular baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, combine cooked pasta, meat, and mixed vegetables.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together soup, milk, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour sauce over pasta mixture and stir until evenly coated.
  6. Fold in 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheese.
  7. Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  8. Top with remaining cheese and sprinkle breadcrumbs on top if using.
  9. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until hot, bubbly, and golden brown.
  10. Let rest 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Reheat individual portions in the microwave for 1–2 minutes.
  • Reheat larger portions in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15–20 minutes, covered with foil.
  • Freeze for up to 2 months; thaw overnight before reheating.
  • For a crispier topping, mix breadcrumbs with 1 tablespoon melted butter.
