Apple Grilled Cheese is a sweet and savory twist on the classic sandwich, combining crisp apple slices with melty cheese and buttery toasted bread. It’s comforting, flavorful, and quick to prepare—perfect for lunch, snack, or even breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread (sourdough, white, whole wheat, or your choice)
  • 1 tbsp butter or mayonnaise (for spreading)
  • 1/2 apple, thinly sliced (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith)
  • 23 slices of cheese (cheddar, gouda, brie, or a mix)
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard or honey (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Spread butter or mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer cheese and thin apple slices. Add Dijon mustard or honey if desired.
  4. Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side facing out.
  5. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
  6. Remove from heat, let rest for 1 minute, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use crisp apple varieties for the best texture contrast.
  • Don’t overfill—keep apple slices thin to ensure even cooking.
  • Try with different cheese types to explore flavor combinations.
