Apple Crostini is a crisp and elegant appetizer featuring toasted baguette slices topped with creamy cheese, fresh apple slices, a drizzle of honey or balsamic glaze, and a sprinkle of nuts or herbs. It’s a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and crunchy—ideal for parties, brunches, or fall entertaining.

Ingredients

  • 1 French baguette, sliced into ½-inch rounds
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for brushing)
  • 2 apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji), thinly sliced
  • 8 oz cream cheese, goat cheese, or brie
  • 2 tablespoons honey or balsamic glaze (for drizzling)
  • ¼ cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (to prevent browning)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush lightly with olive oil on both sides.
  3. Bake for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp.
  4. Slice apples and toss in lemon juice to keep them from browning.
  5. Spread a layer of cheese on each toasted baguette slice.
  6. Top with apple slices.
  7. Drizzle with honey or balsamic glaze.
  8. Sprinkle with chopped nuts and herbs, if desired.
  9. Serve immediately or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use crisp, sweet-tart apples for the best flavor and texture.
  • Assemble right before serving to prevent soggy crostini.
  • Try brie or goat cheese for a rich, tangy variation.
  • For a savory version, skip the honey and use balsamic glaze with blue cheese.
  • Store toasted baguette slices separately and assemble when ready to serve.
