Apple Cinnamon Bread is a moist, spiced loaf filled with the sweetness of apples and the warmth of cinnamon. With its soft crumb and flavorful aroma, it’s the perfect treat for breakfast, dessert, or a snack, especially during the fall season.

Ingredients

  1. 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 1 teaspoon baking soda
  3. 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  4. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  5. 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  6. 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  7. 1/2 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  8. 2 large eggs
  9. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  10. 1/2 cup buttermilk (or regular milk with 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice added)
  11. 2 medium apples (peeled, cored, and chopped)
  12. 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  13. 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (for topping)
  14. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

  1. Prepare the dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
  2. Mix the wet ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, oil (or melted butter), eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
  3. Add the wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined.
  4. Fold in the apples and nuts: Gently fold the chopped apples and optional nuts into the batter until evenly distributed.
  5. Prepare the topping (optional): In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon and sugar for the topping. Sprinkle evenly over the batter in the loaf pan.
  6. Bake the bread: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool and serve: Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  1. If you prefer a sweeter bread, you can increase the sugar or drizzle sweetened condensed milk on top.
  2. To prevent the cream cheese filling from sinking, ensure the batter is thick enough to support it, or swirl it slightly for a marbled effect.
  3. For a more decadent treat, add mini chocolate chips to the batter.
