Air Fryer Turkey Meatballs are a simple and healthier twist on the classic meatball, offering a delicious and crispy outside with a tender inside, all without the need for frying in oil. With the air fryer doing most of the work, these meatballs cook up quickly and evenly, making them perfect for a busy weeknight dinner or a snack.

Ingredients

  1. 1 lb ground turkey
  2. ½ cup breadcrumbs (can use whole wheat or gluten-free)
  3. ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  4. 1 egg
  5. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  6. 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  7. 1 teaspoon dried basil
  8. Salt and pepper to taste
  9. 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional for brushing)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.

  1. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated. If the mixture feels too wet, add a little more breadcrumbs.
  2. Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Lightly brush the air fryer basket with olive oil or spray it with non-stick cooking spray.
  5. Place the meatballs in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not touching to allow for even cooking.
  6. Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, or until the meatballs are golden brown and cooked through. Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer (should reach 165°F or 74°C).
  7. Remove the meatballs from the air fryer and serve as desired.

Notes

  • For spicy turkey meatballs, add red pepper flakes or chopped jalapeños to the mixture for some heat.
  • Incorporate fresh herbs like parsley or thyme for a burst of freshness.
  • For cheese-stuffed meatballs, add a small piece of mozzarella or cheddar in the center of each meatball.
  • To make these meatballs gluten-free, use gluten-free breadcrumbs.
