Air Fryer Haddock is a healthier, quick, and easy way to enjoy crispy, tender fish without the need for deep frying. The perfect balance of crispy breading and flaky fish, this recipe is ideal for a delicious seafood dinner.

Ingredients

  1. 2 haddock fillets (about 6 oz each)
  2. 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)
  3. 1 tablespoon olive oil (or melted butter)
  4. 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  5. 1 teaspoon onion powder
  6. 1 teaspoon paprika
  7. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  8. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  9. 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, for serving)
  10. Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the haddock: Pat the haddock fillets dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. This helps the breading stick better and results in a crispier finish.

  1. Season the fillets: In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Rub this seasoning mix evenly over both sides of the haddock fillets.
  2. Coat the fish: In a shallow bowl, add the breadcrumbs. Lightly brush both sides of the fillets with olive oil or melted butter, then dip each fillet into the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure they are fully coated. For extra crispiness, you can double coat the fillets by repeating this step.
  3. Preheat the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  4. Air fry the haddock: Place the breaded haddock fillets in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not overlapping. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes, or until the fillets are golden brown and crispy on the outside, and the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C). You can flip the fillets halfway through cooking to ensure they cook evenly.
  5. Serve: Once the haddock is done, remove it from the air fryer and drizzle with lemon juice. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired. Serve immediately with your favorite sides like roasted vegetables, rice, or a simple salad.

Notes

  • Spicy Version: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the seasoning mix for a spicy kick.
  • Crispier Coating: For a thicker, crunchier crust, dip the fillets in beaten egg before coating them in breadcrumbs.
  • Herb Coating: Add dried herbs such as thyme, dill, or oregano to the breadcrumbs for extra flavor.
