Air Fryer Grilled Cheese is a quick and foolproof way to make the perfect crispy, golden sandwich with gooey melted cheese inside. Using the air fryer ensures even cooking, no mess, and a flawless crunch every time — perfect for an easy lunch, dinner, or snack.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread (white, sourdough, or whole wheat)
  • 23 tablespoons softened butter or mayonnaise
  • 4 slices of cheese (American, cheddar, or your favorite melting cheese)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (185°C) for 3–4 minutes.
  2. Spread butter or mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place two slices of bread buttered-side down on a clean surface.
  4. Layer two slices of cheese on each piece, then top with the remaining bread slices (buttered-side up).
  5. Place sandwiches in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  6. Air fry for 5–6 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
  7. Remove carefully, cool slightly, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Preheating the air fryer helps achieve an evenly crispy crust.
  • Don’t overcrowd the basket — cook in batches if needed.
  • Use a mix of cheeses for extra flavor and creaminess.
  • For an extra golden finish, brush the bread with melted butter before air frying.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture and melty cheese pull.
